Thank to the generosity of the owners of Strop Shoppe, we are proud to be able to resurrect this iconic scent. A fresh and masculine blend of Juniper, Bergamot, Jasmine, and Patchouli.
Awesome scent. Great performance as usual from Stirling. Unknown on 15th Jun 2017
Absolutely love the scent: Light, subtle, masculine, with a hint of spice. It's not overly in-your-face or offensive and will play well with a lot of other scents. My go-to shave soap, as I can follow it with pretty much any aftershave and it won't interfere. Love this stuff. Unknown on 29th May 2017
I always liked Strop Shoppe's Baker Street since it was such a nice unique manly scent and was disappointed when they ceased operations. However when I saw Stirling was now offering its own version, I had to pounce. I knew it would be even more slick as well as a terrific value for its quality and price. I was not disappointed as Stirling knocks it out of the park every time. Great job Rod, but I hope you may get the opportunity to offer some of the other Strop Shoppe soap scents that were just as nice. Just a thought Sir, just a thought! DPC on 20th May 2017
This is one of my NEW Favorites! I love the scent and as always the performance is fantastic! Skeet on 12th May 2017
I prefer the stronger scents like Ozark or Margaritas but if you prefer a lighter scent that will smell good while you're shaving but not interfere with other scents you may be wearing than this will be a 5 star soap for you. The Baker pre-shave oil is also nice, I use that even more often than the soap. Dave (rChewbacca on reddit) on 9th May 2017
Glad Rod and Mandy were able to bring this back to life. Love this scent and as with all Stirling soaps, performance is unbeatable. James Bonadies on 17th Apr 2017
Scent is how I remember it from Strop Shoppe, performance is even better! Unknown on 11th Apr 2017
I compared Stirling Soap Baker Street to two unopened tubs of The Strop Shoppe Baker Street, doing multiple shaves with each. The ease/glide/protection of the lather is great for both. In a blind test, I couldn't tell which was which (without using the scent), so five stars there.
The scent of Stirling Soap Baker Street was not that close to that of my The Strop Shoppe Baker Street however. Probably the most common complaint (the only one I have and maybe the only one I ever read) about The Strop Shoppe Baker Street was that the scent was too faint and/or faded too quickly. It is so wonderful that you want it more of it. But, unfortunately, within two hours it was pretty much gone. Stirling Soap seems to have tried to address this by making the Stirling Soap Baker Street scent strong. What happened was they gave it a strong floral (or is it herbal?) fragrance. The kind that comes from many makers who have a "Barbershop" soap of some kind.
You notice the difference immediately upon opening the tub and lathering up. The good news is that the floral fades and within 30 minutes what is most noticeable is the wonderful scent of The Strop Shoppe Baker Street. The bad news is, as with The Strop Shoppe Baker Street, two hours from your shave the scent of The Strop Shoppe Baker Street is almost completely gone and what lingers is weakly floral.
For those who missed out on The Strop Shoppe Baker Street, Stirling Soap Baker Street is currently as close as you can get to that form of perfection. For those who remember Strop Shoppe Baker Street, this soap does a good job of reminding you of what you're missing.
Having said that, will I be getting more Stirling Soap Baker Street? Yes, as soon as my The Strop Shoppe Baker Street supply is gone. Mike Anderson on 13th Mar 2017
I did quite a bit of joking in my review of Barbershop, but here I think I should be more serious.
Baker Street smells like a fine cologne, and while I haven't yet shaved with it, the ingredients list appears virtually identical to Barbershop and Stirling Gentleman, so I know it will be just as amazing. While I'm on the subject of these soaps, I would like to extend this review to Rod as a business owner, and Stirling Soap as a cottage vendor. It's often a bit of a scary proposition when you're buying shaving soaps online, especially when your income is extremely limited, but Rod makes it a lot easier, both with 1oz discs for under $3, and by always throwing in enough of one of his other scents for at least one free shave. Before making my first order late last November, I called him on the phone, and he spent at least 30 minutes helping me understand what I needed to know, and helping me find a soap compatible with Clubman, my favorite aftershave. With my most recent order, I mentioned my interest in Baker Street in the comments note, and my intent to save money for a bit of a splurge in May(a birthday treat), and instead of merely a few shavings, I ended up with half an ounce! He is a very good man who goes above and beyond to help his customers, and all the soaps I've tried have been outstanding. He and his family have a genuine passion for crafting artisan soaps, and consider them a matter of personal pride. If you're reading this review because you're on the fence and are unsure, either for financial reasons, or because you're new to wet shaving and are tired of cuts and razor burn, you've come to the right place. If you like a fine cologne that is manly, yet sophisticated and professional, Baker Street is a great soap to begin with. Believe me, once you try it, you'll never go back to store-bought again. Dave on 11th Mar 2017
I am new to wet shaving. That being said please take this into account as I haven't tried alot of products. I have tried vikings blade, sucked, jeeves of hudson street velvet jacket and conservatory, throught the fire fine craft the beast ( good stuff there too ) and baker street by stirling.
This soap is a good product especially for it's price. It gives good cushioning and slickness with a smell that I think is awesome. It will last a long time. It is soooo easy to lather and I think it's really a croap (shave soap that's soft but not quite a shave cream) and whenever I run out of this I will buy more. Also, I have very sensitive skin, very sensitive. Terry on 28th Feb 2017
The performance is as always super. Very fresh smell. Lather with my "King" brush is a pleasure, tons of lather, smooth as always. Love Your Products. Ole - Norway on 24th Feb 2017
I snagged a sample puck when placing an otherwise non-shaving purchase. I haven't tried Stirling's shaving soaps since they moved to different raw ingredient suppliers and eliminated the offensive, base soap odor. I'm pleased to report that the previously present base soap odor is completely gone, but, unfortunately this soap scent just wasn't for me. It wasn't unpleasant at all; it just not a scent I would normally choose. The performance is spot on, though, so I can't fault them for that. If the scent sounds like something you'd like, then go for it. As for me, I'll just stick with my citruses and florals. :-) David R. on 22nd Feb 2017
Performance is the same as every Stirling product I've used, amazing. Great lather, cushion, slickness. The scent is fantastic on this one, and smells really close to a Burberry scent but I haven't put my nose on which one. I'll be getting a full size puck and aftershave, as well as trying to find which cologne it is that matches. Nate on 21st Feb 2017
I love all of your soap. Quality and performance are outstanding. I like your sample pucks, it gives me the idea on the scent. I will definitely buy the full puck of this scent. Unknown on 21st Feb 2017
It kind of smells like just really good soap. I don't know how else to describe it? It's fresh and clean smelling. I would recommend it but it doesn't blow my socks off like the other Stirling products. alan on 18th Feb 2017
I feel like i got a hug from benedict cumberbuns Unknown on 16th Feb 2017
One of the first (and thankfully best) shave soaps out there as far as performance. I can't fault it.
The scent wasn't to my liking - too mild, too "spicy" (allspice or cloves or both). While I dock a star for personal preference, I can say that this soap is probably the best soap on the market as far as performance.
While I'm a cream guy at heart, this soap has converted me to soap. There is nothing better. Lan on 15th Feb 2017
This was my first Stirling soap and I love it. Amazing cushion, great smell, and lathers well in hard water. Awesome product! Zane on 10th Feb 2017
Stirling Baker Street is dynamite!! Beautiful juniper and bergamot blend, this soap lathers darn near by it's self. The post shave will rock your face and head. kerry on 10th Feb 2017
I never had a chance to try the original Strop Shoppe so I am in no position to compare the two, but this is another great soap on its own merits. On the fragrance end I found myself wishing for a little more of the florals to come through. It's still a fine soap, and scent is such a subjective area. I still enjoy it. Functionally, it's the same top tier soap I have come to expect from Stirling. Tremendous lather, great slickness and cushion. Enter all of the usual catch phrases. Bottom line, I have never purchased a dud from Stirling, and this is a welcome addition to my growing collection of fine Stirling soaps. I am a fan of the soap and the company on every level.
