This soap is like a punch in the face from a snowman. A snowman who loves to chew gum. Made with Spearmint essential oil and one of the highest concentrations of menthol you will find in a cold-process soap. (Essential Oil & High Menthol)
My most-used soap this summer. I probably won't use it as often once the weather turns colder, though, because in the winter the face-freezing would be less welcome. Perhaps Rod can come up with a non-mentholated spearmint soap that we can use in cold weather. Of course, the performance is excellent, like the other Stirling soaps I have tried. SOAP IS BONE CHILLING COOL..POST SHAVE IS AWESOME.... BEST STIRLING SOAP SO FAR THAT I HAVE PURCHASED... SCENT IS SPOT ON!!! Unknown on 11th Jul 2017
So far this is my favorite soap! The smell is amazing (if you like spearmint) and it goes on so nicely! The performance is so good! John Caudle on 27th Jun 2017
If you desire cold, this is it! It just may be the coldest thing that I've ever put on my face. The smell is wonderful, like Wrigley spearmint gumand it is just a slick and cushiony as I have come to expect from Stirling. Buy it and freeze your face! Brandon Hay on 2nd Jun 2017
Stirling makes some of the finest shaving soaps in the world and this minty one is in my top 5 of all time. I love mint flavored and scented things, so this shaving soap was right up my alley. Such a rich lather and such a great scent! Perhaps Peppermint could also be an option in the future? (Hint, hint) Brian J on 5th Oct 2016
This soap along with Glacial Obsidian are the soaps that I go to when I want that extra menthol kick. The Spearmint scent is very good and strong but not offensive. As with all Stirling soaps the performance is great. The lather, slickness and glide are spot on, and with this soap you get that extra incredible cooling sensation post shave. It's what you could call the WOW factor in menthol. Doug on 23rd Sep 2016
I love the smell of spearmint, and when I opened my latest package from Stirling, the scent of spearmint filled my living room. I only ordered a sample puck but now I wish I had ordered a full tub. The performance is excellent, as expected with Stirling, and the menthol kick, though more potent than MITA, is not overpowering or unpleasant. (My eyes did not water.) Definitely will be ordering a full tub of this one. Mitch W on 21st Aug 2016
Easy to lather like all Stirling soaps. Great protection, too. I love the spearmint scent. It's like Wrigley's Spearmint gum.
The description is pretty spot on. The menthol really is a blast. It's a bit strong for me--makes the eyes water, hence the four stars instead of five. That said, the cool water rinse afterward is a real treat!

I was absolutely in love with the Glacial Obsidian due to the amazing sensation one gets while using the product. Glacial Spearmint is a step above in my opinion. The chill/burn (good) sensation is not as prevalent as with Obsidian, but the smell is phenomenal. As a Spearmint fan, it smells divine imho. It's my favorite soap of the Glacial line thus far.
As with nearly (if not all) Stirling products, the lather is great with a tiny bit of work. The sensation during and after shaving is almost surreal. I hope they offer Glacial Spearmint AS with menthol! Dr. Gorgack on 26th May 2016
It smells just like spearmint bubble gum! I've always taken pleasure of the taste and smell in that particular chewing gum and now I can shave with the same pleasantry. Very nice cooling effect! I would recommend this to any friend! Lorenzo E. Perales III on 11th May 2016
My favorite Glacial. The best scent, menthol, and shave. The lather is wonderfully creamy and very slick. This soap is very high in my rotation. Post shave is fabulous and the scent lingers for awhile which is a plus. Have to take a whiff about everytime I am close to it, it's that good. Unknown on 27th Jul 2015
Do you love gum? Like the cold? Wish you could spend an hour unable to feel your face?
This is the coldest your skin will feel unless you have access to a rather tall mountain between November and January. Unknown on 21st Jul 2015
Seriously...this stuff is awesome!! It's the coldest shave soap I have ever shaved with hands down and the scent is fantastic. I love all things mint so this is definitely up my alley. Seriously fantastic stuff!! Unknown on 15th Jul 2015
Purchased nearly a year ago & still the coldest soap in my collection. Eye watering cold & super minty. No problems lathering with local water (Delaware valley).
Don't get it on any sensitive body parts.
You have been warned. Zeke Farmer on 15th Jul 2015
As I said not too long ago - my first attempt with this soap was from a sample from a puck which was from an original tester batch. It was not easy to lather but I still managed quite well. Since then there's been a 1,000% improvement - this newest version of Glacial Spearmint lathers MUCH faster and easier. The scent is still the same (man, do I love it!) and the menthol effect is so intense that you feel that your face has a built-in air conditioner in it. You can't beat the skincare you get from this soap or any other of Rod's soaps. I think they all deserve twenty stars, not five! Jeff on 7th Jun 2015
Well, I can't say they didn't warn me about the cold, but man - it's like smearing an ice cube wrapped in chewing gum on your face! Not really a big fan of that feel; I like a bit of menthol (my gold-standard soap for tingle is Proraso green), but not so much that my face goes numb.
My bigger problem, and I just may have gotten a bad batch, is that this is significantly harder to lather than the other Stirling soaps I've tried. Normally I use a slightly damp brush (synthetic, saturated, then two good shakes) to get a nice creamy lather (I let the soap warm up with sprinkled water while I shower, of course). With this soap I have to keep adding water to get it to even load the brush, and even then it doesn't lather up like their other soaps, and it feels stickier on my face. Back to Barbershop for me... JustinO on 14th May 2015
I'll admit that I only had a sample of this soap which came from an older batch and it wasn't the easiest to lather, but with patience and some extra effort I was able to coax it to get the lather to still be very workable and acceptable. The menthol effect takes hold almost immediately and by the time you finish your first pass, your face feels like it's coming off. The scent is 100% how Rod describes it - pure spearmint and very nice. It's hard to beat any of these Glacials in the skincare department, in fact there are no other soaps which moisturize and soothe a man's skin like Rod's. Rod, you are the BEST soapmaker I ever bought from - bar none! Jeff on 18th Apr 2015
