A drive through the Ozark Mountains in fall is the best way to describe this scent. It is woodsy, spicy, and absolutely the closest fragrance we have found to replicating the aroma of the Ozarks. (Fragrance Oil)
This one is similar to Coniferous to my nose, but less earthy, and more of a bright Christmas tree scent. I have not been to the Ozarks, but the scent reminds me of a Christmas tree lot, or of being in the Eastern Sierra. Very fresh smelling, and another one that to me will work as well for summer as it will as a winter/holiday scent. T. Young on 15th Dec 2017
Very nice soap. Could pass for a Christmas scent- you’ll get hit with the balsam pine hard. But then a Spicey woodsy tone in the back. It’s quite nice. I have nothing like this. To me this is a seasonal scent , not something year round. I’d recommend you get a sample and see if you like it. I think you will. JeffT on 21st Nov 2017
Smelled too sharp and piercing straight in puck form, and had my doubts that I would enjoy it. The scent definitely softens up once lathered and is a great "wake me up" type feel for dreary mornings. Great performance as always! Unknown on 15th Nov 2017
My first Stirling shave soap was Lime scented and although I love it for its exceptional quality of lather cushion and slickness, I am a little put off by the "gamey" undertone of the tallow which comes through in the scent profile. With Ozark Mountain, this is not at all the case. The scent is wonderfully strong and stands in the foreground. I'm still using the Lime shave soap until it runs out, but I hope that Stirling might get similar feedback from other users and look into balancing out the scent profile a bit more in favor of the intended smell. Nevertheless, Stirling Shave soaps rock! Steven Roach on 10th Nov 2017
Top notch soap and company! I get a nice woodsy scent that is incredibly unique. Very masculine in my opinion. A must try! Matthew Weitzel on 1st Nov 2017
Ozark Mountain is my favorite along with Sharp Dressed Man. I stopped purchasing shave soap from anywhere else since I started order din these 2 from Stirling. They both sit in that manly fragrance without being too overpowering. george S. on 1st Nov 2017
got a free sample puck with my last order and i have to say i love the scent. im going to be picking up the preshave, balm and aftershave so i can wear this scent in time for christmas. Stirling does an amazing job as always. Edgar H on 5th Oct 2017
Stirling has become my favorite shaving soap of all of the small batch soaps. How they got this scent is beyond me. I lived in the Ozarks for years and this absolutely reminds me of the aromas there. Amazing. Fantastic lather, fantastic scent and the price is more than reasonable. I'll be reviewing this soap and all of Stirling's products on my shave blog soon. Definitely a top notch product! Neal Cox on 4th Oct 2017
As with all Stirling soaps, this one lathers great and has excellent slickness and glide. The scent reminds me of growing up in rural upstate New York. I will most likely buy more when my sample runs out. Highly recommended. Jason on 14th Sep 2017
This shave soap is my top pick so far. It produces a nice lather that is really slick and best of all it does not dry or irritate my skin. I love the sent of the soap and I truly look forward to using it every time I shave! Unknown on 31st Aug 2017
This is currently my favorite shave soap. The scent reminds me of Christmas. I am very partial to winter pine, juniper, and other woodsy scents. The scent lingers after the shave. The soap lathers easily in my quite easily, although I have softer water. It provides excellent slickness and protection. I will be purchasing this again without any hesitation. Chris on 19th Aug 2017
Slick, easy to lather, and smells great. The soap absolutely makes the shave and I truly look forward to shaving now. Tim Higdon on 18th Aug 2017
When I first opened this soap it immediately reminded me of the smell of a Christmas tree when I was young. It has great slickness and lathers easy. Fred Stuart on 10th Aug 2017
This might be my favorite scent from Stirling. It's woodsy but fresh. The bath version of this, Pig Trail, is what I'm currently using in the shower, and following it up with Ozark Mountain for my shave is awesome. If they made this scent in an EdT I'd buy it in a heartbeat! Andrew on 6th Aug 2017
Pleasant memories of the time spent in nature. Perfect quality and aroma of soap. Alexsander K. on 1st Aug 2017
Excellent performer, like all Stirling soaps. This fresh, woody, spicy and floral scent provides the illusion of walking along mountain streams, through mountain pastures and forests. To me the dominant scent is that of spruce needles and cones. But there is a lot more to it. Scent strength is about 7/10. It’s one of my favourites of Sterling’s. I shall definitely buy it again. I was a little hesitant to order this soap at first because I was afraid it would be a sort of heavy woodsy cedar kind of scent, but I've read many reviews here and they persuaded me. I can now say that I'm glad I ordered it because I fell in love with this scent. It's very fresh and green to me and complex enough to keep me guessing the notes during a shave.
How's the performance..? Well let's just say I have several other top artisan soaps from different makers, as well as soaps like Proraso, Cella, TFS, Razorock, Speick, Haslinger, etc. and I will get rid of everything except for my Stirling soaps and one or two others. I try a lot of products, but when I find something I really like I'll stick to it. If my samples are done I'll gladly be ordering the full tubs.
I just shaved my head a couple of mins ago and had to review this immediately after, that's how good it is! Also, I keep smelling my hands like a weirdo because the scent is so good, lol! Tim, Netherlands on 8th Jul 2017
The scent on this is very nice, I enjoy shaving with this soap. I love spending time in the mountains so this soap brings back some great memories when i use it. Scent strength is great and the balm is dead on too. DARRELL on 20th Jun 2017
All Stirling soaps are made with the utmost quality, we know that they are going to lather amazingly and last for a long time. The main difference is the scent and this scent is amazing, if they sold this as a candle or air freshener I would want my whole house to smell like this. Dave (rChewbacca on reddit) on 9th May 2017
I really love this soap. The scent is very piney. Almost too piney at first; I had my doubts. After the first use, though, it became my favorite of all my samples. If it seems a little much at first, just try it and you won't be disappointed. A good scent has the power to make you feel great about yourself and sets the tone for the day, and this is a perfect way of starting the morning.
All of the samples I've tried have had great lather and were very slick. I haven't had any irritation from any of the soaps, which is a big deal for me as I tend to have sensitive skin. Previous to trying Stirling, I had been using a different brand that I couldn't use every day due to irritation and redness. I thought my brush might be too harsh. Turns out it was the soap, and with Stirling I can use it every day with no issues. The last brand would also dry up on my face before I was finished shaving. Again, no issues like that with Stirling.
In addition to the scents and performance from this company, I'm impressed with their values and practices that they talk about in their FAQ, such as the fact that they use biodegradable plastic wrap instead of regular plastic. An all-around impressive company that I'm excited to keep supporting. Next I'll buy a full tub of Ozark and a few more samples; I plan on keeping my bathroom well stocked. Lindsey on 6th May 2017
