Scent: Have you ever sat in your study’s high-backed chair, leatherbound book in your lap and a glass of scotch in your hand? Me neither, but if I did I bet it’d feel like this smells. It’s a pleasant but mild gentleman’s scent, perfect for starting your day with that casual mood. I’m reminded of bay rum but without the cloves.

Soap: Stirling shaving soaps provide excellent lather, cushion, and glide as well as a superb value. I especially like that my skin is still slick even where the lather is gone, leaving me with protection even when my technique is less than optimal. Their shave soap is now my go-to; I have no notes for Stirling on their base product.

I’m very impressed by both the scent and the performance of this soap. Easily the best smelling soap I’ve ever used. I’ve got coarse and curly hair, but the nicks have been very minimal no matter how long my beard gets. The lather is slick and helps me get a BBS shave with little to no irritation.

I'm a big fan of tobacco/vanilla scents, and this one's a winner. It sticks around all day. That said, if you're averse to powerful, lingering fragrance, probably best to start with a sampler first to test the waters.

Haverford has become my favorite scent and since Stirling is my favorite shave soap, obviously this is my favorite shave soap of all the brands I own. I have the aftershave and the body lotion so yeah I'm hooked. There's just something about vanilla and tobacco together.

Of all them, Haverford is my favorite. The smell is amazing, and it hit exactly what i was looking for in a scent.

It's sweet, but not overly sweet, with a hint of chocolate and caramel. There's vanilla and coffee mixed in there too. At the same time, it has a pipe tobacco/sweet cigar smokiness, with warm comforting spices in there. Definitely one of my go to scents.

Not only that, there was a sample of "hipster" body soap as an extra, that i didn't expect. So thank you Stirling Soaps for that one. The packaging was excellent, and i really appreciate the hand written "thank you note" on my invoice. It's definitely the "cherry on top."

I can't thank you enough for my sample pack, and you definitely just picked up a new customer.... for life. I'll be getting Haverford as one of my "go to soaps."

I can't get enough of the Haverford shave soap scent. I bought the matching aftershave, solid cologne, and EDT too. Phenomenal!

This soap has a very strong scent. I am lousy at describing scents; there is an accurate description on the site. I really like it though. Not sure I would want to smell it as cologne all day long, but I am not generally a cologne guy. But during my shave, it is very pleasant, and doesn't hang around very long after finishing the save. I ordered a full tub of it based on the sample puck.

Like all Stirling soaps, this is a great base that lathers effortlessly and provides great cushion and slickness. No surprises there. Stirling consistently provides the best value in shaving. What did surprise and delight me was the scent! Haverford is a warm, comfortable, traditional scent that is also invigorating and exciting. I immediately bought the matching splash and I love it, as well. This has become my all-time favorite. If you're looking for a great masculine scent in a quality soap, grab yourself a tub!

I could not smell the tobacco because of the overpowering vanilla smell. It was really not for me. Right out of the can, it was not a good scent. I gave it a few tries lathering up, but it was still the same result. I was hoping for more tobacco. If you char vanilla beans in a dry pan, to me that is what it smells like. It is hard to get away from.
It's dark so wash your brush out completely after using.

I personally really like this scent, it’s one of my favorites to shave with during the fall and winter months. I can totally understand why some don’t care for it because it definitely is a strong scent. But I personally do like it.

Smells so good! My husband loves the lather and we both love the smell! Coming from a very picky smell girlie.

This shave soap is a guaranteed winner. Be warned, it’s extremely addictive and performs flawlessly. This is one I keep going back to. My infatuation with this one started with a free bath soap sample and has grown into my purchase of the whole line.

This scent is very similar to Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille that it is modeled after. I love tobacco scents so this is right up my alley and it's done quite well. The soap lathers up beautifully for a comfortable shave. Great work!

The soap itself is the best there is for my skin and hair type, which is thick and prone to ingrown hairs. So, I can't make a ton of passes with a razor. I need two passes, max. I tried these soaps versus all of the cheap soaps and a bunch of expensive soaps, and this is the only one that takes off the hair in 2 passes with minimal cleanup. I use a safety razor. Great scent too. Soft spice, with a nice tobacco and very light vanilla.

Comes off a little strong if you get in too close to it, but once lathered and on the skin, it's fantastic.

It has a manly scent. The lather is great (and that goes for all of the Stirling soaps I've tried). This has become my everyday scent.

Smells great! Comes a little dry but I put a little water on the top and left it for a couple days and now it loads the brush perfectly. Gives a nice smooth shave!

This is my favorite scent and my wife loves it too. I’ve recently combined it with other scents.

Like I've written before, these soaps don't take too much water. I found the vanilla/green tobacco scent wasn't my favorite. The soap itself can leave suspicious-looking brown smears on the wash stand, so clean up afterward!

This was a flip of the coin for me as I tend to shy away from too sweet and heavy vanilla scents! I picked up a dupe edp of its namesake and really have enjoyed it, so I made the purchase and it’s pretty spot on scent wise! Most would use this in cold weather, but it’s July as I post and it’s awesome! No problems lathering nor slickness, as there never is!

A glorious vanilla-forward offering guaranteed to garner compliments. Simply one of the best out there.

Great performance, but the clove is just too much for me. And it lingers a long long time. Does it irritate my face? Maybe. Time to pass the sample onto others.

I have absolutely no idea how to describe Haverford. I counted the number of Stirling Soaps I have stored in my linen closet and I'm now up to 18. All I know is that I seem to favor the dark-colored soaps. Can't tell you why. But this is one of 'em and I like it.
