Classic bay rum aftershave with strong spicy notes of clove, cinnamon, and citrus. Customers praised its "authentic barbershop aroma" and long-lasting scent. Classic, masculine scent!

This one is a classic. It projects well, and has a wonderfully complex aroma. The cinnamon delivers a hot spice initial layer, and the clove sneaks in with a smooth base layer. It’s a very fatherly, wintry kind of vibe. While this isn’t personally my kind of scent profile, it’s one of Stirling’s best and I recommend trying it out in a sample at least.

Only downside is that if you have sensitive skin, the cinnamon may burn/irritate your skin, though it wears off completely after 4-5 minutes.

Hits All the Right Notes!

The Bay Rum Glacial after shave splash (along with the pre-shave oil, shave soap, witch hazel, and balm) were my first purchases from Stirling. I’m now obsessed with the scent and performance of each product, all of which work so well together from the beginning of the shave until the balm. This splash hits all of the right notes - intense initial burn in the best possible way, followed by an immediate menthol cooldown that lingers and lingers. When used with the Stirling Bay Rum balm my face feels cared for and luxuriated upon after every shave.

As good as the opening of this Bay Rum after shave is, with that intense smack of spice, the best part of the very long cooldown is the powdery, musky goodness that blends perfectly with what I detect as the essence of lime. It’s like wearing a spicy Winter Daiquiri.

Stirling Bay Rum Glacial after shave is now at the top of my shaving rotation. It’s easily the best Bay Rum after shave splash I’ve used in terms of scent and performance. I look forward to using it, and so will you.

Ehhh

This stuff is strong. Definitely not my favorite. I put this stuff on and my family could smell it from the other room. Luckily I got this in a sampler.

It is a nice splash however the clove sent is overpoweing for me.

Great stuff

The fine folks at Stirling included a sample of Bay Rum soap in one of my orders. My wife and I both fell for the scent. I ordered bath soap, shaving soap, splash and post shave balm and have absolutely enjoyed everything in this line. I just used the whole line up before going out to lunch today. Maaahvalous.

Authentic fragrances

This was the first bay rum product I can honestly say has the authentic aroma of the original barbershops of old!

Great Bay Rum

I first tried this a couple of years ago and felt it was a little one-note, but I've been using it daily for a while now and realized I just wasn't picking up on the complexity. It isn't as sweet-smelling as some other bay rums and has a strong spice smell, but it's layered and, at least to me, has some subtle citrus notes. As others have mentioned, it has a decent burn when first applied, but the smell lasts for hours.

Spicy!

Ok

Not a bad fragrance, but the bay rum is overcome by the citrus and clove scents. Probably won't buy it again.

Classic Favorite of mine!

This is a love it or leave it kind of scent in my opinion. You'll either really love it, like I do, or it'll be "not your thing". I've let half a dozen people smell it and it's about 50/50. That said, it's awesome to me, very masculine and complicated. Reminds me of my grandfather and good memories.

Bay Rum After Shave Splash

Started buying this over a year ago and have used it every day since. Great product

Great aftershave

I bought my first bottle of Stirling Bay Rum in a store along the Illinois River several years ago and have been using it ever since. The addition of menthol is a great touch, too. I wish they would develop a "Pig Trails aftershave, as well, since I love the scent.

THIS is what I have been looking for

This is the smell I fell in love with 50 years ago and have always loved. This version is amazing and exactly what I think about when I think Bay Rum. I do agree that it will definitely get your attention if you use it directly after a really aggressive shave but I found that using an alum bar first tamed the flames considerably. Best Bay Rum I've ever had. Please keep making it!

A very spicy bay rum

The after shave does its job very well. It feels good going on and the scent lasts for a long time.

The scent is a very spicy smelling bay rum. The description says a hint of clove, but I find it to be predominantly clove, at least on smelling the bottle and initial application. Once applied to your skin and dried, the other notes pop a little bit more and is very refreshing.

Excellent Bay Rum

I'll begin by saying that I've favored spicy aftershaves since I started to shave, and that's nearly 60 years. Having tried a number of Bay Rums, and discarded most of them, I'll say this is in my top three choices. Well balanced, tightens the skin right up and smells great. And it has an initial intense burn (at least it does to me) which disappears after about 2 minutes. Fragrance last a good long time, not half an hour like a lot out there.
I still scrape my face with a straight razor (what a throwback) and this stuff is a really good follow-up. Highly recommended!
Stirling shave soap is all I have used for several years and this aftershave splash works perfectly with it. I cannot say enough good things about Stirling products.

A good kick in the teeth when you need it.

I'm not a Bay Rum connoisseur so can't compare to others, but the Stirling Bay Rum is pretty solid. Bold and spicy. Clove forward with orange coming in right behind it, to my nose. Burns more than most Stirling splashes I've tried. Not my favorite in the Stirling line-up but it has its place. It's my go-to on the days I shower at the gym before work. Really cuts through the gym funk and kicks me into clean, fresh office mode.

Great scent but burns my skin

I need to start out by stating that I LOVE Stirling Soap company. I have used their products for four years now and have used at least twenty varieties of shave and bath soaps.

The scent notes on this Bay Rum splash is heavy on the clove but, as others have said, burned my skin. I'm not talking the good, old fashioned alcohol burn that gets me going in the morning, I'm talking a burn that makes my face turn red for a couple of hours after using it. I own five other Stirling splashes: Sharp Dressed Man, Coconut Lime, Iced Pineapple, Light Reddish, and Barbershop. Not one of these splashes cause the above mentioned face burn. I'm not sure if its a particular oil that they use, but it isn't for me. Interestingly, the matching shave soap does not cause the same problems that I encountered with the splash.

Anyway, kudos to the Stirling Soap Company for putting out innovative and budget friendly items.

Great scent

The shave soap is more clove forward with all the other spices in the background. The other spices come a little more forward in the splash. This has recently joined my regular rotation and is in my top 4-5 splashes.

Very soild bay rum scent and aftershave! Though not for the weak, has lots of burn.

I've been getting to try quite a few bay rum scented soaps and aftershaves, this one is extremely solid. Of course, the base aftershave is exceptionally good leaving the skin feeling toned and refreshed. So I would recommend Stirling aftershave splashes in general.

Now this bay rum scent itself is very solid and what you should expect of bay rum. You get all the notes of bay, nutmeg, cinnamon, sugar, and some clove that just adds to the overall profile.

Now warning on this bay rum, since I'm sure both cinnamon and clove were included in the fragrance. Both of which are a bit of a skin irritant. This aftershave burns real good! It's like a spicy hot sensation on your face there for a little bit and turns me red. That being said, I don't mind and it doesn't last long leaving my face feeling pretty good after the fact. If the burn is not for you then I'd recommend a bay rum that specifically notes that it does not have clove in it. The atomic bay rum from PAA is one that I've used and is pretty solid too.

Too much clove

I love a good bayrum, even if it's a little over the top on spices. Sadly Stirling's bayrum has way too much spice, clove to be specific. I found it to also be lacking that Bay smell. I really wanted to like it but was too much for me.

CLASSIC BAY RUM SCENT!

Rod and Mandy have knocked one out of Fenway with this scent! This is quite possibly the best Bay Rum aftershave out there. Strong and spicy, with powerful notes of clove. My wife hated it, because she hates cloves. But she said she’s ok with it after a while. Combined with the Stirling Bay Rum soap, this is a winner!

Very nice scent!

When I got into wet shaving a couple years ago, Bay Rum was one of the scents it seemed you should have because that's probably one of the scents Don Draper had in the late 50s, a classic scent. I got the Witch Hazel from Stirling to try it out and was happy with the smell and found there were not a lot of companies doing Bay Rum aftershaves or colognes so I was happy to find the aftershave splash available at Stirling. The scents are both great but the splash is a little different. The Stirling witch hazel has a more pronounced clove presence while the splash is strong in spice and fragrance but more balanced and most important has the rum notes you are looking for. Both products are great, but the improvement of the distinctive rum notes is nice.

An excellent Bay Rum aftershave!

I used Stirling Bay Rum aftershave for the first time this morning and was pleasantly surprised by its staying power and its scent. It really comes alive in the dry down, citrus and spice notes mingle with a very natural bay rum scent. I think Stirling's rendition of Bay Rum stays very true to a natural scent and yet there are some complexities lingering in the background. Well done!

Very good product. I'll be back for more!

Average

I like bay rum, but this is not my favorite. I'm currently using orange chill, which is excellent, but my top aftershave is the vanilla sandalwood.

Doesn't smell like Bay Rum - Kind of stinks

REALLY bad version of Bay Rum. Tried it once, washed it off, threw a full bottle away.

Strong but not bad

Bay Rum is going to be one of those scents that you either love or you hate. I found the clove scent to be the most dominant, but not in an unpleasant way. If you like spicy aromas, this is the scent for you!

Excellent!

There's not too much to say. It's an excellent bay rum with a good balance of spices, and lasts longer than many other bay rums. Many of the others are too short on spices, this one doesn't disappoint. You can't go wrong!

Excellent Splash

This aftershave splash is the perfect compliment to the Bay Rum shave soap. Like all Stirling splashes, this is an excellent performer with an outstanding scent.
