Scent Description: Made with Benzoin, Frankincense, Clove, and Nutmeg essential oils. This soap smells like an older gentleman’s pantaloons at the end of a hot July day in Philadelphia, drafting important documents with no air conditioner. It’s actually a very unique scent that reminded a few of my testers of a root beer float. An instant favorite.  

NOTE: The description is tongue-in-cheek.  It smells like a wonderful blend of Frankincense, Benzoin, Nutmeg, and Clove.  It doesn't actually smell like sweaty old man pants. As of 3 March 2015, we have been averaging about 2-3 inquiries per week as to why we would make a soap that smells like an older gentleman's trousers......

Ingredients: Aqua (Distilled Water), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe) Left Juice, Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol & Polysorbate 60 (Emulsifying Wax), Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, (Vegetable) Glycerin, Myristyl Myristate (Co-Emulsifier), Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Phenoxyethanol & Caprylyl Glycol & Sorbic Acid (Optiphen Plus), Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Stearic Acid, Boswellia Frereana (Frankincense) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Allantoin, Myroxylon Balsamum (Balsam Tolu) Resin Oil, Myristica Fragrans Facruit Oil (Nutmeg), Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Bud Oil.

NOTE: Due to the ingredient Allantoin, this product may exhibit white specks.  This does not affect the performance of the balm and the white specks are fully absorbed when applied to the skin. Allantoin is an additive that helps heal wounds and stimulates the growth of healthy skin tissue.

Love how stirling balms perform and this is no exception. Smells more like the alledged root beer scent than any of the rest of the line

Not spectacular but pleasing

What I like best about this balm is that it's made with natural essential oils that help disinfect the face. Another one I tried was made with synthetic fragrance to resemble polo cologne and I did not enjoy it after a few uses. Ben Franklin doesn't have a spectacular smell or even a very strong smell but I find it comforting to use. The older I get, the less I tend to enjoy synthetic chemical fragrances. I would buy this again.

The Best

I have some of the other scented post shave balms (including unscented) and this one is by far my favorite. The base notes that I get later in the day are just awesome. Every time I get a whiff of this throughout the day I think about how much I love this product. My 5-year-old daughter loves smelling my neck when I use this and she says it "smells like cinnamon" (although there is no cinnamon in it; I think she is smelling the clove and nutmeg). The witch hazel & aloe version of this scent smells exactly the same.
