When first putting this on, I was overwhelmed with pure leather smell, but it was very cold, dry, almost bitter smelling. My wife's comment was "what smells like an old air freshener?" The smell does warm up after a couple hours with amber and floral scents starting to come out, and my wife didn't mind the smell once we were out of the car. I will probably mix this with some other aftershaves to make a bootlegger's mix.

I bought this to go with British Leather shaving soap. It is a great aftershave. I also have the British Leather shaving balm. These three work well together.

This is my favorite Stirling scent and that is not an easy task with so many others on it's heels. Not an exact copy of English Leather but close enough and in some respects better. This has a deep leather masculine note that stays with me all day. This is a seasonal scent so I buy enough to keep myself stocked all year, because I use it all year. If you like Leather scents buy a sample and see if this is a good one that suits you.

The scent of British Leather is epic. No, it doesn't smell like English Leather, and I'm glad. For those of you who were disappointed that it didn't I have a solution. Buy yourself a bottle of English Leather. Great splash!!

Perfect everyday scent

I'm an old guy who used English Leather many years. It was/is my wifes fav and I wore It on our wedding day in 92.
We both really dislike this one.
Unfortunately I sprung for the big bottle.

I purchased the after shave sample of this product. To me it was very smoky, and did not smell like English Leather, at all. It was almost to the point that I wondered if I had a mislabeled sample.

In my opinion, it was a toned down version of Texas on Fire. Texas on Fire is like sitting right next to the campfire and the smoke surrounds you, and this one is toned down like you're sitting in the tent and you have the residual smell of campfire smoke on your clothes.

I'll still use up the sample because I actually don't mind smoky once in a while but I would not purchase it again. I was hoping for some of that English Leather nostalgia.

I love the fragrance of this splash. Makes me recall younger days. I actually purchased the British Leather candle to fill my entire shave den with the scent.

I never hesitate to purchase any of your products because they are top-notch and affordable. This aftershave splash did not disappoint as it was exactly as described on the website and I just love the scent. Never been disappointed by Stirling soap.

This is the perfect complement to my British Leather shaving soap. The Stirling homage is reminiscent of English Leather. I have a bottle of the original aftershave (the MEM only version) before Dana took over manufacturing. Stirling's British Leather is definitely in the same fragrance family.

A tad bummed that this didn’t smell more like the grandpappy juice I recalled from the late 70’s in that spectacular, rectangular glass bottle with the authentic, knobby wooden cap. I went full-tilt on the set for that supersonic trip back to when Pop’s Pop visited one week out of the year & carried that leather valet full of his good stink. English Leather was his signature scent. That man rocked it year round & wore it the way it was intended. Confidently! This version from Stirling smells more like the Stetson cooling moisture splash you can get off your local pharmacy shelve. (And I like that juice too). It smells very cedar forward with some leather, but no floral I can detect. It’s a unique scent on its own & I cannot deny the superb value, customer service and performance we get from Stirling. I’ll still wear it as it is a complimenting fall scent. I just wanted to share my experience for anyone looking to buy this for the holidays with the Dana or MEM English Leather vibe in mind.

Stirling products are consistently of excellent quality, and this AS was no exception. It just didnt smell like English Leather. I was very disappointed. Im not sure how to describe it. Its just different and I didnt care for it, but it could just be my sense of smell.

Like all Stirling aftershave splashes, British Leather alleviates razor burn and leaves your post-shave skin soft and supple. The fragrance is an exact match for English Leather by Dana. It pairs nicely with Dunhill for Men EDT.

The first time I used this AS it was overpowering and I thought I'd made a mistake choosing it. Second time around I was more judicious and used about half the amount I'd used the first time. The result was wonderful, reminiscent of English Leather, only better -- a more rounded and luxurious scent. British Leather calls up memories of the leather upholstered '52 MGTD I tooled around in as a young a man. My face likes this AS and my nose absolutely loves it! So does my wife. And it pairs beautifully with tobacco scented soaps. If you like the smell of quality leather goods, you're gonna like this. Just remember it has a strong scent and don't overdo it.

I never used English Leather. This fragrance makes me imagine I've got a British sports car with leather seats. This is one of the fragrances I will use more for my own enjoyment, not wondering if others will like it. Only other Stirling AS so far that I think the same way is Glastonbury. Havent tried any of the woodsy ones yet.

I really, really, really love this stuff. This is definitely one of the best scents that Stirling has produced in my opinion. It has a nice soothing effect on my skin and the smell is just absolutely amazing.

I have this with and without menthol. I prefer the menthol. (Regular strength). It reminds me of the stuff my Dad used to wear. One of my favorites and great face feel.

If you enjoy English Leather, you will love British Leather. Rod & Amanda nailed this scent. I ordered mine with menthol and it's so refreshing. Good scent longevity too. Highly recommend it! Thank you!
