Customers praised this shave soap for its "thick, smooth lather" and "amazing smell." Many noted it's "great for sensitive skin" with no irritation. The citrus-forward scent divides opinions—some find it "light & fresh," while others say it's "very light" or "too corporate." Performance is consistently excellent, providing "baby smooth" results.

Great Fragrance

This soap produces a thick, smooth lather. I use the soap and the aftershave along with Acqua di Parma's cologne: Fico di Amalfi. Rod and Mandy have done a great job producing an homage to this fragrance and I have liked all of the Sterling products I have used.

My new favorite

I have sensitive skin so scented soap does not always work for me. But this soap is great. I have no irritation and it smells amazing.

Not long lasting

Combination of oils smells nice, but you can smell the tallow which makes it unpleasant.

Incredible

Just my absolute favorite scent. Smells so lovely makes me smile every time. You’ll find yourself opening the jar just to smell it lol. Another home run by sterling.

Very good performance. Wish first scent of top notes was more prominent.

Great soap and the fragrance is very close to Fico di Amalfi. Stirling Soap Company products never disappoint.

Lathers Great, Smells Good

I think I remember reading that the Campania scent is supposed to be evocative of an Italian barbershop. I've never gotten my hair cut in Italy, so I'll have to take their word for it. I'm on my forth or fifth tub of Campania, and I don't really care to use anything else. I shave my face and scalp daily in the shower with a Merkur razor and Feather blades. Campania lathers really well, and smells good. My skin feels baby smooth afterward too. If Stirling quit making Campania, I'd be bummed, and go back to Barbershop--which does smell like an American barbershop and is my second favorite shave soap.

Light & Fresh!

Came across Campania elsewhere, but wanted to circle back and leave my thoughts here since this one doesn't seem to be getting the praise I think it deserves. My nose can't recognize this scent as anything other than a lighter, brighter, breezy rendition of barbershop. It's clean, crisp, and has a natural background. Creamy? Powdery? A bit of both? It's mild in strength and fresh enough with the citrus that I think it's great for warm weather. Perfect for an everyday, simple shave!

Stellar

This scent is bright and complex, it has a fresh clean scent and a blast of lemon on the opening not like a cleaner but like a fresh cut lemon mixed with some florals and other citrus notes, it's lovely. Not sure why people say you can't smell it long, it lasts 7-8 hours on my skin, most of Stirling products have beast mode scents for longevity with this one included. Value and performance can't be beat with this company

Stirling Shave Soaps

I have tried eight Stirling Shave soaps: lather density varies between various offerings and the scent is short lived. Never-the-less good shave soap at the price point.

Spot on!

Very well done homage to AdP. Probably one of the closest I’ve encountered. I find the scent strength right at medium. Takes me right back to a summer in Venice. The splash has great staying power without being overpowering. Nice job!

Great soap!

Super smooth shave with this soap and it smells amazing!

Very light, fragile scent if you can even smell it.

I have almost two dozen Stirling samples at this time. This is by far the lightest, most fragile scent I've received from the company. Most scents are in the medium to strong rating for scent strength. This one my wife and I can barely smell anything other than a vague citrus note.

The soap base as usual is wonderful, but the scent was extremely light compared to everything else I've received from Stirling. It might as well be Naked & Smooth.

The scent is fine

It is a complex scent and my nose kinda blue-screened while trying to identify what's going on. Reading the description while smelling it, I think I can pick out the fig and basic citrus-y stuff. But on me it smells a bit too corporate for regular use. I think I'd need a business suit and a yacht to handle the fragrance.
The soap itself is good.

A Unique Scent

Picked this soap up because the name and description was eye catching, and I am not disappointed.

Performance: It's Stirling, I don't need to say much more.
Scent: Campania gives a very clean, floral scent. Not very masculine in my opinion, its like sticking my face into a bowl of blended fruits. It reminds me of Mountain Man, just a lighter version.

This soap is unique and pleasant, a fine addition to anyone's shave den. Try a sample, or just go for the tub!

Refreshing Scent...

The Stirling Campania Shaving Soap has a great, refreshing scent. It provides for a smooth shave, as well as a great post-shave feel.

Just SO Good

I love this scent, it's citrus, a little floral, and for me at least a kind of soft scent, almost like powder. I can see how it could be manly, (my husband uses my bars of soap) but I LOVE the clean scent, it is subtle. So I started with the bar soap and decided to up my leg game and try out the shave soap and I got a boar's hair brush, per the hubby's advice, and HOT DAM, the BEST. SHAVE. EVER. Like my legs were in their 20's again so soft and smooth. And an added bonus, only have to shave every other day, the shave is that close! I am now adding the after shave with a bit of menthol to start the day right. My husband likes the scent and funny enough, the Campania smells different on both of us, so it IS SO Good. We have been using Stirling for years and when family comes, they take their bars with them. I love this company and how they have something for everyone.

Great Scent!

I love this scent, and use it and the Splash often. A nice masculine cologne scent. I like that the scent is medium plus to full in strength. One of my favorites!

A Complex Soap Best Saved for a Sample Puck

It was probably not the wisest idea to use this shave soap as my introduction for Stirling. Something about the name and description really grabbed my attention as I enjoy dining at authentic Italian family-style restaurants. The best thing I can say is that the scent is reminiscent of that environment and I pleasantly enjoy it, yet I'm not sure I would use it on a regular basis. Maybe toss a sample puck every now and then.

There is nothing wrong with the quality of the soap nor the scent, but it is definitely one of the most complex soaps I have ever smelled and my untrained nose can only describe it as being drowned in various citrus scents. (The cedarwood is definitely there, but it blends entirely with the many citrusy ingredients; I would go for Vanilla Sandalwood if you want a more woodsy scent.) I thankfully bought it along with other scents in a sample pack and the scent tapers off after its first few uses into something more tame. The scent itself will definitely last most of the day after a shave, but it's not overpowering enough that I would classify it as a cologne.

Is that YOU that smells like that?

Let's get the Stirling usual out of the way. Insane speedy delivery. Bombproof packaging that has defeated the local postman despite his best efforts on many occasions. Lather and protection that stands up to, nay, exceeds most if not all of the other artisan soaps I own....etc yadda blah what all big fans of Stirling already know.

So the scent, it is as described. It's citrus, it's clean water, it's floral, it's cologne-y, it's just a fresh all-occasion scent. I am a big fan of "this smells like something but I don't know what, and I can dig it." scents. This one checks that box for me as there is not a heck of a lot of mystery or surprise in a soap called "BANANA". You get the idea.

In regards to the title of the review? When the spousal unit sitting on the other end of the couch says that, and not in a BAD way? It's a keeper. Not strong, just distinct. Oh and get the splash. You can sit there smugly while she is there sniffing the air for a couple hours as you waft.

Great summer scent

As always the soap gets 5 stars for performance. Scents are subjective, but this one is universally pleasant. I bought piacenza before actually trying the OG Acqua di Parma and found their description of "close to parma" is fair. I love the scent, but it's not quite there. I prefer to wear that on it's own without mixing with the OG. This however is pretty darn close to Fico di Amalfi. FdA is a bit more on the greener/less ripe side, but on the dry down they are very close. The campania aftershave goes great with the OG edt but here's the kicker: campania aftershave outlasts the original edt by a mile! The difference in smell that lasts maybe 45 minutes isn't worth the premium price. If you like the original you can't go wrong here.

Just "okay"

On the puck, this was super cologne'y', but once lathered up the cologne pulled way back and it took on a more general "just clean" (but not soapy) scent. Nothing offensive about it, it's nice enough, but it won't be in the regular rotation. It did lather and shave well though.

Fantastic soap. Fantastic scent.

I bought this set completely blind having not experienced it or the fragrance it draws inspiration from. It is an amazing scent. One of the best I've experienced from Stirling in a while. The scent is a crowd-pleaser. It'll be easy to wear on date night or to the office. Clean, masculine, refined. I'm happy to report the citrus doesn't overpower the cedar. My only regret is not picking up the EDT!
Buy this one blind. I can't imagine anybody not loving this set.

Oh and the soap base is fantastic, but you guys already know that!

Mediterranean vacation in a tub

This is a good one. Citrus is most prominent, but not sweet at all. More of a green, dry citrus, like being in a citrus orchard, dry hay laying on the dusty path as an ocean breeze blows in from the nearby coast. This is a huge winner for me, and an excellent job by the Stirling crew!
