This is as good as shaving soap as made anywhere! The thing thats so nice about it is the wintergreen scent. Getting it into the cup took a bit of thumb pressure but it went in well. Then, I had some on my hands and climbed into the shower. Figured the scent is so nice I'd just use the leftovers on the rest of my body while it lasted. Oh my gosh, first it tangled then burnt on my skin. I wasn't hurt but it was extremely uncomfortable for about an hour then calmed down. It was like an overpowering menthol.
The menthol is so strong it makes me cry.
Just finished a 1oz sample ,this is beyond terrific , great scent and the menthol makes it a solid 11. Add to that the excellent lather and quality of Stirling soap, it's a definite winner!!!
I like mentholated products and decided to try Glacial Wintergreen. It is one of the best mentholated soaps I have and it is packed with menthol. The cooling effect lasted for 20-30 minutes post shave.
Ever wondered what it would feel like if Jack Frost gave you a wet willy while you're chewing wintergreen gum? Say hello to Stirling's Glacial Wintergreen Shave Soap!
This shave soap lathers up so slick, you might need to install guardrails in your bathroom. The rich, cushiony foam builds easily and provides exceptional protection as your blade glides across your face like a Zamboni on freshly flooded ice.
Let's talk about that menthol kick – this isn't your grandfather's cooling sensation. This is GLACIAL with a capital "hypothermia." The first time I used it, I'm pretty sure I saw my breath in the mirror... in July.
While it's earned a solid five stars from me and remains in my rotation, it's not my absolute favorite from Stirling's lineup (they make too many good options – it's a blessed curse). Still, for menthol enthusiasts or summer shavers looking to beat the heat, this frosty puck delivers exceptional performance at a price that won't freeze your wallet!
The Stirling soap with the menthol are my favorites to use. They are very cushy and make your shave very comfortable.
Lather’s easily nice cushion and glide! The scent is fantastic and very much cooling
Fantastic! Im using synthetic brushes & the shave soap from Stirling are cool and cushy on the face. Highly recommended!
If you like mint, the smell is fabulous, and with the menthol, the experience is like a splash of ice water that last for the entire shave. What a great boost to the morning wake-up routine.
Awesome easy to lather, glide, protection blah blah blah which I knew it would be but the scent is everything I hoped it would be and then some! This is very easily a year round scent and just became my favorite
I just shaved with this and, as expected, found it to be another great Glacial Scent which leaves a great post-shave feel.
I got a sample of this in one of my first orders and was saddened when I couldn't get it last year. But so glad it made a return, and I got a tub of it. Glacial is cool enough that it really only works in the summer, but it's absolutely the perfect thing to cool you off for a nice evening shave.
Ice cold! Bought a sample and after one use, immediately regretted my decision to not spring for one of the larger sizes. I find myself opening the lid to just get a whiff-- it's that good. Great lather as always, but if this restocks, do yourself a favor and get the full size.
I’ve tried a good number of Stirling’s glacial soaps and this one by far feels the coldest! The wintergreen scent is outstanding and the menthol is frigid.
If you love menthol and want the sensation of smashing your face into a snow bank, do yourself a favor and try this soap! You will not be disappointed!
I got this as I like mentholated shaving soaps and pine scented smells.
This shaving soap is nicely mentholated but the smell reminds me more of BenGay than winter green. A little disappointing in that respect.
Lathers nicely though.
Just had my first shave with the Glacial Wintergreen soap, and boy howdy, this soap is bracing, cool, arctic! The shave soap version of Altoids! I love it! Very nice, especially with it being so hot outside. And of course the awesome slickness and cushion that Stirling soaps are famous for. Great Glacial soap guys, this one kicks butt! A grand slam home run.
I use the Wintergreen Witch Hazel every day. It's a great kick in the face after a nice shave. However I'm personally not looking for the kick while I shave. Top quality soap as always, but unfortunately, it burned my face a bit more than I'd like. However, if you like the feel of the glacial soaps and want the minty scent, you'll not be disappointed.
A great smell like getting slapped in the face with wintergreen gum in the hand. Great lather and a great scent I haven't been disappointed yet with any of stirling soaps.
The later and shave is exceptional as with all stirling soaps that I have tried are.
Somebody crushed up wintergreen lifesavers and added it to Stirling's exceptional soap base; at least that is what it seems like.
And somebody wasn't afraid of adding menthol. I use Stirlings Glacial Lemon Chill as my reference for mentholated soaps and Stirling's glacial lemon chill is on my very short lists of favorites.
This soap is the perfect choice for those wondering about the chill strength of the Stirling Glacial soaps. I say perfect choice because I now have the sense of how it is so relaxing in these hot summer(and early fall)months. I can go on from here and try the more "flavored" ones(not that Wintergreen has NO flavor). I give it 4 stars only because for the second straight usage, I ended up with a cut around my chin(albeit minor). Maybe I just need to get more practice accepting the feel of cold shave soap. But overall, I'm happy I made this choice. Thanks Stirling!
Rod and Mandy really know how to use menthol when it comes to shaving soaps!
This soap offer the coldest face feel of any soap i have used (and i have used many) but the Wintergreen scent is the real winner in this minty menthol combo!!
From the moment you open the tub to the last splash of cold water this soap take your senses on a journey like no other soap i have tried before it!
Should you wish to check out my thoughts head on over to my youtube channel "Another Cut Above" where it now holds my top spot.
Thank you for offering a soap that does exactly what it says on the tub!
If you're a menthol monkey like I am you'll absolutely fall in love with this soap. Its scent is so damn nice, it lathers like a maniac, and within seconds the freezing sensation grabs you. I've done as many as four passes just to keep enjoying that arctic blast. Another thing about this great soap is its post-shave care which in my honest opinion (like all Stirling soaps!) is unbeatable!
Received this in the mail today, I immediately lathered it up and went to work. I successfully completed two passes without any issues. I have bought four soaps before this from Roderick and the quality of the soaps went from great to superb. Everything from the packaging to the lather exudes a distinct sign of perfection.
Roderick and his family have grown with the craft of artisan soap making and it clearly shows. You'd be hard pressed to find better soaps elsewhere. Especially at this price point!
As always, amazing soaps for a DE wet shaver. Never a complaint, first-rate product that I will always come back to. I love very strong cooling soaps, stronger the better for me. Almost like getting wasabi for the face -- love that punch and then cooling. And this has a strong punch which works great, great shave. However, I thought it was a bit on the "icy-hot" smell. A little too much like muscle relief gel that my Uncle Carl slathered on before Thanksgiving dinner. Might be the wintergreen edge. I like (but do not love) wintergreen, I am more on the peppermint side of things. But, if you like wintergreen this is your soap. On the plus side, for me, the icy-hot smell does not last long but the good shave from it certainly does
In the Start Trek TOS episode "A Private Little War", Spock is trying to regain consciousness after recovering from being shot in the chest. He asks Nurse Chapel to slap him, as the pain will help bring him to consciousness. She does, lightly; he tells her she must do it harder still. Even so, her slaps are basic slaps with her open palm.
Scotty sees what she is doing, doesn't understand, and stops her. Spock is now suffering. Fortunately, Dr. M'Benga arrives, brings his hands together, and starts smacking Spock in the face with both fists as hard as he can. Success! Spock is revived.
Other soaps are Nurse Chapel. This soap is Dr. M'Benga.
The menthol level in this soap is outstanding. My eyes were watering right away. Wonderful lather, great slickness and a true wintergreen scent. I have never been disappointed with Stirling soaps and this soap is no different. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a strong menthol content. It does fade away in a short amount of time, however that is perfect for me as I don't want it competing with my aftershave products.
I love this soap for hot days, a lot of people I know complain that it freezes their face off and makes their eyes water. I must be a "menthol junkie" because I find it refreshing and awesome, I don't mind my eyes watering a little when I shave because I enjoy the massive cooling effect on my skin. Always slick and smooth, which I find all Stirling soaps to be. I have tried other soap companies and I keep coming back to Stirling, you can't beat their price or their quickness in shipping. Sample sizes are big enough that I shaved for a month on a sample before I decided to buy full-size. This is in my summer rotation line-up alongside Glacial Lemon Chill, and Margaritas in the Arctic. Absolutely love it, it smells like the old wax lips candy from the 80's.
I don't need to go into detail on how well it lathers, it's just like any other Stirling soap, great lather! The menthol is no joke here folks. If you are the slightest bit menthol/mint sensitive then this soap would be suicide for you. I however love it! The glacial portion of this puck is strongly noticeable even before you open the plastic and the cold sensation hits your skin almost immediately, and the wintergreen is very clean & pleasing. A very nice way to start your morning. It's overall scent is very nice during the lather and shave process, however I was disappointed that it seems to fade away too fast, I really don't smell it anymore once I'm dressed and out the door heading to work, however the menthol does linger for about a half hour for me on hot days. It would be a complete injustice to judge this with less than 4 stars, but if the scent lasted longer throughout the day then this would be an easy 5 stars.
Man is this soap cold, the menthol is ridiculous, in a good way if you like menthol. This soap lathers well as all Stirling soaps do, it makes my eyes water, and feels like I'm putting my face into a bowl of ice water, but I enjoy it. The scent is like the "Waxed lips candy" that was big in the 80's or 90's, I have no other smell that comes to memory that does it justice. I enjoy this soap on days when I'm not quite awake yet and have an early day. The 1st pass is cool, the 2nd pass is cold, and the 3rd pass is freezing. I would recommend this soap if you're a menthol junkie like I am. As always great customer service on Stirling's part!
