Customers praise this alum block for its "incredible value" and generous 125g size that lasts years with daily use. Shoppers report it effectively stops nicks and cuts, is scent-free, and remains solid without cracking. However, one customer received a cracked product, and another with sensitive skin found it too drying for broad application.

Effective, but it dries my skin too much

The Alum block is very effective at stopping nicks, but my sensitive skin has a difficult time with it for such a broad area application. I am reverting back to my styptic pencil for precision. I am glad I tried it and it is a good product, but I needed to try a different approach.

Incredible Value & zero craters!

This could be the best value on Stirling’s website. The block is twice the size of an alum I purchased from a well-known Continental company in September (that was also, I should add, more expensive) that quickly revealed its many holes, craters, caves, and valleys. It eventually was not usable on face, prompting the order from Stirling. It has not yet disappointed after nearly a month of daily use. It’s smooth, provides great feedback on the shave, and allows me to rub the remains of that older, crumbling alum on my hands before handling the razor. As long as Stirling stocks these alum blocks, they will be the only ones I put to my face. A superior product all around.

Relief from nicks and cuts

Works well for relief on nicks! Seems to help with minor bleeds and is scent free so it won't interfere with other fragrances. Container is a bit flimsy. Dry case/block after use

Last a long time!

If you've ever questioned it, this is something that should be a staple for everyone from the beginners to the intermediate shavers! I keep a block in the shower, and even the constant humidity/moisture for years hasn't worn it down with it's near-daily use.

As well, it helps shore-up cuts quickly! Easy to use and gentle on the skin.

Stirling products are great!

I use them all - shaving and bath soaps, shampoo bars, splash and balm. Can't go wrong. I am a longtime customer and will continue to use.

Very good alum block!

I have tried several alum blocks and this one from Stirling was hands down the best. Why do I say that? I don't know how other blocks are made but this one lasts a very long time, Seems solid. I've had a few other brand blocks that has had voids or holes inside the block and those blocks seem to fall apart or crack quickly. I also really like the size of this block when compared to the price. I am very impressed with what I got.

Perfect addition

I had never tried an alum block but when I decided I ordered from Stirling based on the experience I have had with past purchases I knew it would be quality. I was not let down and will continue to order these as needed. Awesome product!

Alum Block

Great size alum block it should last quite a while. The plastic container is a little cheap but that's not a big deal at all considering the price.

well its a block of Alum and it does the Job

An Alum Block is an old school method for dealing with cuts during Shaving. you just wet the block a bit and go over the area you shaved.

this is a good size block especially for the price. the only possible negative I could mention is that the plastic Latches on the Case the Block comes in are really flimsy and weak but overall that's not much of a negative. The block should last a while especially if it's left somewhere to dry after using it.

I started Traditionally Shaving about a year ago and I haven't managed to make it through one Block Yet. I shave once every 3 or 4 days for Reference.

this is the big block. they offer a smaller one which is good for a Travel Kit too.
