The scent is quite light. It's not quite unscented, but compared to the Texas on Fire scent, this smells like nothing.

My wife says i smell like dirt after i used this on my face after my shave with Varen.So i went back in my shave den and splashed a little more on.Love this stuff .If youve ever flipped a rock over in the woods and get that whiff of fresh earth and decaying wet leaves then you might like this.A bit sweeter than that but still smells oh so good to me.

This is the only witch hazel I have. It is obviously from Stirling and such a wonderful post shave feel. I pair it with MDC Vetiver. Goes well together. Scent is there but not overpowering.

This is the warm, woody, smokey vetiver I was hoping for! Wonderful feel on my face post-shave. Scent is of good strength and lasts for several hours without announcing my arrival or clouding up the room. Hoping for Faskally, Oro Valley and other fall/winter offerings to drop soon which I think will pair nicely with this.

When it says earthy, it means it! Smells like being outside, a mix between freshly cut grass and trees. Most witch hazels smell nice on application and dissipate quickly. This one hangs around and has a lot of staying power. You'll be smelling it long after application. I'd prefer something sweeter and personable and not so organic for something that's going to be following me around for a while. One of the strongest scents of the witch hazels I've tried, only beat so far by Coniferous.

That’s what this smells like to me. If you don’t know English pipe tobacco, just imagine tobacco lightly flavoured with dirt, smoke, ash, and a lot more tobacco. I like it, but I think many wouldn’t. My wife is not a huge fan, but she doesn’t hate it either.

Feels pretty good going on. Can’t really say much about long-term effects yet.

Those complaining about the scent simply don't like Haitian Vetiver. My only complaint is that this isn't available in soap or balm.

There are different types of vetiver fragrance. I have a soap from another company which is called "Vetiver", but the scent is completely different to this. That one is more of a sweet vetiver, and this one is an earthy vetiver. I prefer this one.

The closest soap to this is Port-au-Prince, which I believe must use the same vetiver fragrance, with the addition of lemongrass. I would prefer a soap without the lemongrass, but it'll do.

Witch Hazel and Aloe from Stirling is a great product. I also find it helps me try new scents. This scent is not right to me. I first opened the bottle and choked a little. It is a very stuffy kind of musty odour. Smells like a rotting forest, is the best I can describe it.

I'm not into woodsy or musky scents. I can not remember where I read that Vetiver was a sweet slight woodsy scent. I'm thinking I misread and went blissfully into the unknown.

Still a great base product I just need to get through it and get my next bottle.

Aloe and Witch Hazel is a great daily face conditioner on my sensitive skin. I even use it on non-shave days in conjunction with Stirling lotion or even shave balm.

Vetiver is an amazing complex and intoxicating smokey vetiver that lasts for hours. I wish Stirling could incorporate this vetiver as a stand alone or vetiver forward scent in more products. You'll never feel so clean yet earthy at the same time.

This definitely has an earthy tone...and a bit medicinal. My least favorite scent so far. I would not buy this again. So far my choice of scents that I have tried so far would be as follows:
1 (best) Menthol Margaritas in the Arctic
2. Menthol Orange Chill
3. Glacial Wintergreen
4. Vetiver

I wasn't sure I liked the scent when I first got my sample, but quickly realized how mistaken I was. It starts with a bright grassy smell and then mellows out into a strong peppery finish that lingers for hours. The witch hazel is pretty strong initially but fades quickly and isn't off-putting. I may even skip my cologne today so I can enjoy the vetiver as long as possible. Yet another home run for Stirling!

This is a great product you really dont need an aftershave or cologne after using this. The smell lasted for almost 8 hours, and had a nice strong vetiver scent.

One of my all time favorites. Gave some as Christmas gifts. I always have a bottle on hand. As I have said before, the aroma and soothing nature is second to none. The fragrance has been around longer than anyone currently living on earth. One of the very best.

I recently saw that Stirling had several different Witch Hazel & Aloe toners available and I decided to give this one a try. I am a HUGE vetiver fan (it's one of my favorite scents) and this toner is incredible. Not only is the face feel much better than the more well-known brand of Witch Hazel that I use, but the scent is out of this world. You should try this if you love vetiver, or, if you're on the wrong side of the love-hate debate vetiver often brings out, try one of the other scents in the Stirling toners. I know I want to try some others now!

For a no burn, skin conditioning smell good, this just fits the bill. It has an earthy and woodsy smell that just suits me to a "T". In fact, I rank this as top shelf stuff that will more than compete with Old Spice, Aqua Velva, Clubman and Brute. For a smell that is well over 100 years old, Vetiver has well stood the test of time. Had to have more, this is my second bottle.

So I was like many and thought this product smelled horrible at first. Tried it on my hands before applying it to my face and immediately rinsed them off. It smelled to me like dirt from the ground that came out a campfire. So instead of calling it quits on the sample I got I gave it another shot...and I'm glad I did!

It's a very earthy, smoky, natural scent that starts off very strong but fades away quickly to more of an earthy/green grass kind of scent. Hard to explain but it starts extremely smoky and then goes to the earthy scent. It's actually really nice as a night time splash as it isn't invigorating like a citrus or menthol based splash. Very nice, natural product that I feel is one of the best for skin care. So far my face has cleared up a lot and it feels really tight. I have tried all the witch hazels Rod has and this one is a must. Out of all of them this one gives me that "tight skin" feeling the most which I kinda like at night. I feel like it's working as it should. Overall it's a decent scent with extremely good skin care properties.

A very old scent that cannot be artificially produced. Earthy, woodsy, smokey and citrus. A unique one of a kind fragrance that deserves your rotation after you shave. The witch hazel and aloe cool and heal the skin. This is a must have alternative to the burn of after shaves that are alcohol based. This is an excellent choice.

I really LOVE this Vetiver. The scent is all classic, with a touch of smoke and mint, giving way to a clean, earthy scent. I would love to have this line expanded to Splash, Splash w/ menthol, shave soap, body butter...the whole nine yards!

Like many others I thought the smell of this vetiver was off when I first sniffed the open bottle. I tried it anyway and am so glad! The smell mellows out very quickly into the best woodsy outdoorsy vetivery scent ever. I love this stuff...and so do my wife and kids.

Most aftershaves that include vetiver are the grassy/soapy clean smelling types or if they are the Haitian smokey then they are blended out to a shadow of their former glory. Not this. This is smokey, dirty and visceral. For a long time I've wanted something to pair with my Haitian Vetiver soaps and this one does it perfectly. Not necessarily for the faint of heart. If you can't drink Islay Scotch straight up or stand near a roaring campfire without complaining, please move along, nothing to see here. The quality of care for your face is wonderful as well, leaves me soft and smooth feeling.

This smells awful to me. It's not the earthy or fresh vetiver scent that I expected but is all smoke.
I have no idea how the product performed as I washed it off immediately.

I love just how good this smells. Smells like a good dram of Islay scotch. It has a milky consistency, seems more like a balm than a witch hazel splash. Leaves the skin feeling good as well. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered this, and I sure did not regret getting it. Fantastic product!

The scent of this is very interesting. somewhat smoky and it's very pleasing. I've grown to really enjoy the scent of this and it's very nice on the face. I wish that Stirling made this in an aftershave splash and balm as well.

I have used the Aloe Vera-Witch Hazel Vetiver for some time, and in my experience, there is not a better lotion for sensitive skin for those who shave with a bladed razor. It doesn't sting, helps heal razor rash, and soothes the skin. It also has the great Vetiver fragrance. Definitely five stars!

Having never used but straight Witch Hazel this product is incredible...skin is left soft and well hydrated. Would recommend this product for anyone that likes the Verviter sent and wants the best of both worlds
